Not everyone in the British Isles belonged to the Established Church, even though in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries there could be severe penalties. In Scotland, the established church was the Presbyterian Church of Scotland while in the rest of the British Isles, it was the Anglican Church until 1869 in Ireland and 1920 in Wales. To find some of our ancestor records, we need to search beyond the records of the established church. In this session we will discuss what records are available and where to find them.
