This Months Speaker is Toni Perrone

Toni will talk to us about Italian Research and about Prussia.

Session 1:  Italian Genealogical Resources Found on the Internet

This lecture includes Italian surnames and what provinces they appear in, Translation of a name from Italian to English (example Giuseppe to Joseph),   How to find the town where your ancestor was born,  Ancestry.com – Italian records, Military records on line, Italian Telephone book online, Antenati records on the internet and how to use them Italian Genealogical Societies, Italian/American Newspapers, face book pages for Italian Genealogy, Community Familysearch.org (Italy) and more.

Session 2:  Prussia and Its Changing Borders

This lecture gives the History of Prussia from the 1500’s to World War I when it was dissolved. It shows all the border changes throughout time. It gives all the present day states of Germany that were included in what was called Prussia as well as the areas of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, and Denmark.  It is totally a historical lecture.  However important because many people do not know what Prussia is. They see Prussia on their ancestor’s documents like the passenger list and think that is the village that their family came from.
